Equipment

  • 1 Ice Cream Maker (electric or manual)
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • (1) Whisk
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 Freezer-Safe Container
  • 1 Thermometer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 240 ml Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup 240 ml Whole Milk
  • ¾ cup 150 g Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Optional: ¼ cup 30 g Cocoa Powder (for chocolate variation)
  • Optional: ¼ cup 60 ml Fruit Puree (for fruity flavors)
  • Optional: ¼ cup 40 g Crushed Nuts or Chocolate Chips (for added texture)

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base:

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar until the sugar is fully dissolved. Stir in the vanilla extract. If you’re adding flavorings like cocoa powder or fruit puree, incorporate them into the mixture now.

Chill the Mixture:

  • Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to chill. This step ensures the mixture is at the right temperature for churning.

Churn the Ice Cream:

  • Once chilled, pour the mixture into your pre-chilled ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, churning the ice cream for 20-25 minutes or until it reaches a soft-serve texture.

Serve Immediately or Freeze:

  • If you’re serving immediately, spoon the softee ice cream into cones or bowls for a delicious soft-serve experience. Alternatively, transfer the ice cream into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 1-2 hours for a firmer texture.

Optional Toppings:

  • Top your softee ice cream with your favorite toppings, such as sprinkles, chocolate or caramel sauce, crushed cookies, or fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Texture Tip: Softee ice cream is best enjoyed fresh for its soft, creamy texture. If it becomes too hard after freezing, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften before serving.
  • Flavor Variations: This recipe is highly customizable. You can easily switch up the flavor by adding melted chocolate, fruit purees, or even spices like cinnamon for a unique twist.
  • Churning Without an Ice Cream Maker: If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the chilled mixture into a shallow dish and freeze it. Stir every 30 minutes to break up the ice crystals until you get a soft-serve consistency.
