1 Flat Pan or Griddle (approximately 12-15 inches)
(1) Whisk
1 spatula
1 mixing bowl
1 Freezer (for chilling the pan)
1 Thermometer (optional, for checking pan temperature)
- 1 cup 240 ml Heavy cream
- 1 cup 240 ml Whole milk
- 1/2 cup 100 g Sugar
- 1 tsp 5 ml Vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup 100 g Chopped fruits or mix-ins (such as strawberries, bananas, chocolate chips, or cookies)
- Toppings optional: Whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate syrup, fresh fruit
Prepare the Ice Cream Base:
In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved, and the mixture is smooth and well combined.
Pour and Spread the Base:
Once the surface is properly chilled, pour the ice cream mixture onto the cold pan. Using a spatula, spread the base evenly over the surface, keeping it thin and even.
Add Flavorings and Mix-ins:
Serve and Enjoy:
Top your rolled ice cream with whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate syrup, or fresh fruit as desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!
- Temperature is Key: Ensure the pan is cold enough before starting the rolling process. If the ice cream doesn't freeze quickly, the rolls will not form properly.
- Vegan Version: Substitute heavy cream and milk with coconut milk or other plant-based alternatives for a vegan version of rolled ice cream.
- Customize Your Flavors: Feel free to experiment with flavors by adding cocoa powder, coffee, or matcha to the base. You can also mix in crushed nuts, candies, or cake bits for a unique twist.
- Serving Tip: Rolled ice cream is best enjoyed fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the freezer but note that the texture may change after being frozen for too long.
