Equipment

  • 1 Bowl (for mixing ingredients)
  • 1 Fork or Potato Masher (for mashing the banana)
  • 1 Spoon (for mixing)
  • 1 Ice Cube Tray or Silicone Mold (for shaping ice cream)
  • 1 Airtight container (for storage)

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup plain yogurt unsweetened, about 240 ml
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter unsweetened, xylitol-free, about 60 g
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil melted, about 15 g

Optional Flavor Variations:

  • 2 tbsp pumpkin puree for a pumpkin flavor
  • 2 tbsp blueberries or strawberries pureed for a berry flavor
  • 1/4 cup bone broth for savory ice cream

Instructions

Mash the Banana:

  • Peel the ripe banana and mash it with a fork or potato masher in a bowl until smooth and creamy.

Combine Ingredients:

  • Add the peanut butter, yogurt, and melted coconut oil to the mashed banana. Mix thoroughly until you get a smooth, well-blended mixture.

Optional Flavors:

  • If you’d like to add extra flavors, stir in any optional ingredients like pumpkin puree, pureed berries, or bone broth.

Fill Molds:

  • Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray or silicone molds. Use a spoon to smooth the mixture into each mold evenly.

Freeze:

  • Place the tray or molds into the freezer and allow them to freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Serve:

  • Once frozen, pop the ice cream out of the molds and serve to your dog in small portions. Store any leftover ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer.

Notes

  • Portion Size: Serve small portions to your dog depending on their size. Small dogs may only need one ice cube, while larger dogs might enjoy two or more.
  • Storage: Store leftover puppy ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Be sure to label it with the date made for easy tracking.
  • Lactose-Free Options: If your dog is lactose intolerant, opt for lactose-free yogurt or coconut-based yogurt as a substitute.
  • Experiment with Flavors: Try adding different flavors like pumpkin puree, bone broth, or berries to keep things exciting for your dog. Just make sure all additions are dog-safe.
