Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker – For mixing and chilling the ingredients.
  • Jigger – To accurately measure the liquid ingredients.
  • Margarita glass (or any serving glass) – For serving the cocktail.
  • Small plate – To rim the glass with salt (optional).
  • Citrus juicer – For squeezing fresh lime juice.
  • Strainer – To ensure a smooth pour (if needed).

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver blanco tequila
  • 1 oz amaretto
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup optional, for added sweetness
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish
  • Salt for rimming the glass, optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Glass

  • If you want a salted rim, rub a lime wedge along the edge of your glass, then dip it into a plate of salt.
  • Set the glass aside while you prepare the drink.

Step 2: Mix the Cocktail

  • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, amaretto, lime juice, triple sec, and simple syrup.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled.

Step 3: Strain and Serve

  • Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice.
  • Strain the margarita mixture into the glass.

Step 4: Garnish and Enjoy

  • Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your Olive Garden Italian Margarita!

Notes

  • Adjusting Sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, increase the amount of simple syrup or opt for a slightly sweeter amaretto brand.
  • Frozen Version: Blend the ingredients with crushed ice for a frozen margarita variation.
  • Tequila Choice: Use silver/blanco tequila for a crisp and clean taste. Avoid using aged tequilas (reposado or añejo) as they may overpower the cocktail’s delicate balance.
  • No Cocktail Shaker? You can mix the ingredients in a glass and stir well before serving.
  • Batch Preparation: Multiply the ingredients for a pitcher version, perfect for serving multiple guests. Keep the amaretto on the side so guests can add it to their taste—just like Olive Garden does!
