Equipment

  • 1 Ninja Creami Machine
  • 1 Pint container (for freezing the ice cream mixture)
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • (1) Whisk
  • 1 Sifter (for cocoa powder)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • ¾ cup Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks for mix-ins

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and the cocoa powder is fully incorporated. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more sugar.

Freeze the Mixture

  • Pour the prepared mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. Do not overfill; leave some space for expansion. Seal the pint container and place it in the freezer for at least 24 hours or until frozen solid.

Process the Ice Cream

  • Once the ice cream base is fully frozen, remove the pint from the freezer and insert it into the Ninja Creami machine. Lock the container into place and select the "Ice Cream" setting on the machine. Allow the machine to process the ice cream.

Customize Texture

  • If the ice cream appears too crumbly or firm after the first processing cycle, use the "Re-spin" function to make the texture smoother and creamier. If desired, fold in any additional chocolate chips or mix-ins once the ice cream has reached your desired consistency.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Once the ice cream is processed, scoop it into bowls or cones. Add toppings such as chocolate syrup, whipped cream, or chopped nuts if desired. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer.

Notes

  • Freezing time: Make sure to freeze the mixture for at least 24 hours for optimal texture. You can make the ice cream ahead of time and store it for a few days.
  • Sweetness level: You can adjust the sweetness of your base by adding more sugar or using sweetened condensed milk for a richer, sweeter flavor.
  • Mix-ins: Feel free to get creative with mix-ins. Chocolate chips, nuts, or a peanut butter swirl work wonderfully with this recipe.
  • Storage: Store the leftover ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer. Let it sit out for a few minutes before scooping if it becomes too firm.
