Equipment

  • 1 Ice Cream Scoop – For shaping the Minion bodies
  • 2 Large Mixing Bowls – For dividing and coloring the ice cream
  • 1 Spoon or Spatula – For mixing the food coloring into the ice cream
  • 1 Freezer-Safe Tray/Plate – To freeze the Minions while shaping
  • 1 Piping Bag (optional) – For fine decorating details (e.g., chocolate straps for goggles)
  • 1 Small Piping Tip (optional) – For creating small details like pupils in the eyes
  • 1 Freezer-Safe Container – To store the ice cream once it’s shaped

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Vanilla Ice Cream softened
  • Yellow Food Coloring as needed for desired color
  • Blue Food Coloring as needed for desired color
  • ½ cup Mini Chocolate Chips for the eyes
  • Mini Marshmallows for the goggles, about 12
  • ¼ cup Chocolate Sauce for goggle straps
  • 1 Mini Sugar Cone optional, for hair or hat decoration

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base:

  • If you’re using store-bought vanilla ice cream, let it soften at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes. Divide the ice cream into two large mixing bowls: one for the yellow body and one for the blue pants.

Color the Ice Cream:

  • Add yellow food coloring to one bowl of ice cream until you reach a vibrant shade of yellow. Repeat with blue food coloring for the second bowl, ensuring you achieve a deep, bold blue.

Shape the Minions:

  • Scoop out portions of the yellow ice cream using an ice cream scoop and shape them into oval or round shapes for the bodies. Do the same for the blue ice cream, shaping it into smaller portions and placing them at the bottom of the yellow ice cream for the pants.

Freeze to Set:

  • Place the shaped Minion bodies and pants on a freezer-safe tray or plate. Freeze them for about 30–60 minutes to allow them to firm up before decorating.
  • Assemble the Eyes and Goggles:
  • Place one or two mini chocolate chips in the center of the ice cream body to act as the pupils. Add mini marshmallows around the chocolate chips to form the goggles. Drizzle chocolate sauce around the marshmallows to create the goggle straps.

Final Touches:

  • If you’re using a mini sugar cone for hair or a hat, place it on top of the Minion ice cream to finish the look. Add any other fun details, like additional chocolate chips for mouths or extra decorations for personality.

Freeze Again:

  • Place the decorated Minions back in the freezer for another 30 minutes to let everything set firmly before serving.

Serve:

  • Once frozen and set, serve your adorable Minion Ice Creams on a plate or individual cups and enjoy!

Notes

  • Flavor Variations: While vanilla is the base flavor, you can experiment with other light flavors like banana, lemon, or cotton candy to add a unique twist.
  • Freezing Time: The freezing time is crucial to make sure the Minions hold their shape while you decorate them. You may want to freeze the ice cream more than once during the process for best results.
  • Decorations: Be creative with the decorations! You can add extra details like little “mouths” using chocolate chips or colored candies. Experiment with the size of the eyes or add additional accessories like edible glitter or extra candies to make the Minions even more fun.
