Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl – For combining the ingredients.
  • Whisk or Hand Mixer – To ensure a smooth and well-mixed ice cream base.
  • Ice Cream Maker (Optional) – For a creamier texture, but not required for the no-churn method.
  • Shallow Freezer-Safe Container – Needed for freezing the ice cream, especially for the no-churn method.
  • Plastic Wrap or Airtight Lid – Helps prevent ice crystals from forming on the ice cream.
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons: For accurate ingredient measurements.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups grape juice 100% pure, no added sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for added depth of flavor
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice optional, enhances grape flavor

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ice Cream Base

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together grape juice, sugar, and lemon juice (if using) until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add the heavy cream, whole milk, and vanilla extract, then whisk until well combined.

Step 2: Churn the Ice Cream (Using an Ice Cream Maker)

  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (about 20–25 minutes) until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  • Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container, cover, and freeze for 4–6 hours until firm.

Step 3: No-Churn Method (Without an Ice Cream Maker)

  • Pour the mixture into a shallow freezer-safe container.
  • Freeze for 45 minutes, then stir with a fork or whisk to break up any ice crystals.
  • Repeat the stirring process every 30 minutes for 3–4 hours, until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • Remove the ice cream from the freezer 5 minutes before serving to soften slightly.
  • Scoop into bowls or cones, and enjoy this refreshing grape juice ice cream!

Notes

  • Sweetness Adjustment: If your grape juice is naturally sweet, you can reduce the sugar to ½ cup.
  • Dairy-Free Alternative: Swap heavy cream and milk with full-fat coconut milk or almond milk for a vegan version.
  • For a Firmer Texture: Freeze for 6 hours or overnight for a more solid consistency.
  • Add-In Ideas: Try mixing in chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or a swirl of yogurt for a creative twist.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2–3 weeks.
