This homemade grape ice cream combines the natural sweetness of ripe grapes with a creamy, velvety base. It's a refreshing treat that’s easy to make with just a few ingredients and is perfect for warm weather or special occasions. Whether you make it with an ice cream maker or by hand, this grape ice cream will become your new go-to dessert!
Wash the grapes and remove the stems. Place them in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
Create the Ice Cream Base:
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Whisk until the sugar dissolves completely. Add the vanilla extract, salt, and lemon juice (if using), and stir until smooth.
Combine the Grape Puree with the Base:
Add the smooth grape puree to the milk mixture. Stir well until completely combined.
Churn the Ice Cream:
If using an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into the machine and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 20–25 minutes). If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and place it in the freezer. Every 30 minutes, stir vigorously with a fork for 3-4 hours until it reaches a firm consistency.
Freeze and Serve:
Once the ice cream is churned or frozen, transfer it to a freezer-safe container and let it freeze for 4–6 hours to set fully. Scoop and serve when ready!
Notes
For a smoother texture, blend the grapes until completely smooth, and if you prefer, you can strain the puree to remove skins and seeds.
Add-ins: Feel free to stir in extra ingredients like chopped fresh grapes, chocolate chips, or nuts before freezing.
No Ice Cream Maker? No problem! Follow the freezing method, stirring every 30 minutes to break up ice crystals.
Dairy-Free Option: Substitute heavy cream and whole milk with coconut cream or almond milk to make this recipe dairy-free.
