Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl (medium size)
  • 1 Whisk or spoon (for mixing)
  • 1 Measuring Cup (for mustard and honey)
  • 1 Teaspoon (for vinegar)
  • 1 Airtight Container (for storing the sauce)

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Yellow Mustard
  • cup Honey
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Vinegar white or apple cider
  • Pinch of Salt optional, to taste

Instructions

Combine the Base Ingredients

  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add ¼ cup of yellow mustard, ⅓ cup of honey, and ½ cup of mayonnaise.
Use a whisk or spoon to blend them together until smooth and creamy.

Add Vinegar and Salt

  • Stir in 1 teaspoon of vinegar and a pinch of salt.
Mix everything thoroughly to ensure the vinegar and salt are evenly incorporated into the sauce.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the sauce, and adjust the flavor as needed. If you like it sweeter, add a little more honey.
For more tang, you can add extra mustard or vinegar. Stir well after making any adjustments.

Chill the Sauce

  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the honey mustard for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Chilling helps the flavors develop and intensify.

Serve

  • Once chilled, serve your homemade honey mustard with chicken tenders, fries, salads, or anything else you'd like to dip or drizzle it on.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftover honey mustard in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to one week.
  • Consistency: If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can add more mayonnaise. If it’s too thick, add a small amount of water or vinegar to adjust the consistency.
  • Spicy Version: For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper, hot sauce, or a dash of horseradish to the sauce.
  • Vegan Version: Substitute the mayonnaise with a plant-based alternative and use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of honey for a vegan-friendly version of this sauce.
