Equipment

  • Ice Cream Maker – 1 unit
  • Medium Saucepan – 1
  • Mixing bowls (2)
  • Spatula (1)
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons (1 set)
  • Airtight Container – 1

Ingredients

  • 2 cups – Heavy cream
  • 1 cup – Whole milk
  • 3/4 cup – Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp – Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp – Bubble gum flavoring/extract
  • A few drops – Pink food coloring
  • 1/4 cup – Chopped bubble gum pieces for mixing in

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat while stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved. Be careful not to let it come to a boil. Once dissolved, remove from heat.

Flavor and Color:

  • Stir in the bubble gum flavoring and vanilla extract. Add a few drops of pink food coloring until the desired color is achieved. Mix well to combine.

Chill the Mixture:

  • Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight, until completely chilled.

Churn the Ice Cream:

  • Once chilled, pour the mixture into your ice cream maker. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and churn until it reaches a soft-serve consistency (about 20-25 minutes).

Add Bubble Gum Pieces:

  • Gently fold the chopped bubble gum pieces into the churned ice cream using a spatula, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Freeze the Ice Cream:

  • Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container, smoothing the top. Press plastic wrap directly on the surface of the ice cream to prevent ice crystals. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • Once the ice cream is fully frozen, scoop and serve. Enjoy the creamy texture and chewy bubble gum pieces in every bite!

Notes

  • Chilling Time: It’s important to chill the ice cream mixture thoroughly before churning. This ensures a smooth texture and helps the ice cream freeze properly.
  • Bubble Gum Flavor: The strength of the bubble gum flavoring may vary, so taste the mixture before churning and adjust the amount to your liking. A little goes a long way!
  • Customizing: Feel free to add toppings or mix-ins like rainbow sprinkles, mini marshmallows, or candy pieces to make it even more fun and colorful.
  • Non-Dairy Version: To make a dairy-free version, substitute the milk and cream with non-dairy alternatives like coconut milk or almond milk. Ensure the bubble gum extract is also dairy-free.
  • Storage: Keep the ice cream stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2-3 weeks for optimal freshness.
